Atypically Constructed Footwear
Designer Anna Korshun Doesn't Use Glue or Stitching for Shoes

By: Meghan Young (Superstar) Aug 6, 13

It might be intriguing to promote Anna Korshun’s innovative footwear designs as using no glue and stitching to stay together, but what really makes them stand out is the minimal use of toxins, energy and, of course, materials. An eco-friendly shoe if there ever was one, Anna Korshun’s creation is outside of many comfort zones, but only in good ways.

Mainly, Anna Korshun was originally trained in product design. But for her final project at the Dutch Design Academy, she decided to branch out and try something new. Inspired by the the Elastic Wood chair by Israeli designer Gil Sheffi, Anna Korshun’s shoe designs use a clicking technique to hold together. She does point out one of the major drawbacks, “It’s not very easy to make a completely closed shoe.”
