Reliving Past Photo Ads
The Amnesty International Uruguay Campaign is a Sad Reminder of Lost Loves

By: Meghan Young (Superstar) Jun 22, 12
{SummaryTitle}

The Amnesty International Uruguay campaign focuses on reliving past photos, a photography fad that cropped up a few months ago. Unlike the VMAN ‘Back to the Future’ editorial, this campaign is not as lighthearted. Instead, it acts as a sad reminder of all the loved ones that were persecuted, tortured and disappeared under the military dictatorships in Uruguay, Argentina and Chile.

Touchingly created by Lowe Ginkgo, an ad agency based in Montevideo, Uruguay, the Amnesty International Uruguay campaign nevertheless commemorates 40 years of democracy in the region instead of than wallowing in despair. Art directed by Agustín Acosta, Álvaro Díaz and Luis Meyer with creative direction by Fernando De Clemente, Sebastián Mir and Jorge González, the ad campaign was beautifully shot by photographer Gustavo Germano.
