Domenico Liberti Erases Family Photos to Evoke Awareness

Italy-based graphic designer Domenico Liberti has found a shocking but effective way to bring awareness to his Alzherimer’s campaign. Looking to gain supporters for Alzheimer’s research, Liberti erased the faces from several vintage family photos. This is a clear reference to the extreme and tragic memory loss experience by Alzheimer’s patients. When a person with Alzheimer’s Disease looks at an old family photo they might not recognize anyone in the frame. By erasing the faces from these photos, Liberti evokes the pain experienced by Alzheimer’s patients and their loved ones.

Alzheimer’s campaigns like Liberti’s are fantastic in their ability to both address the issue artistically and evoke sympathy from viewers. With more Liberti-esque campaigns, hopefully Alzheimer’s research will gain further awareness and researchers will be closer than ever to finding a cure.
