Virtual Green Growing
Abbey Parks' iGrow Lets UK Residents Grow Fresh Greens Wherever They Live

By: Michael Hines (Superstar) Jun 12, 12

Now, citizens of the UK can enjoy fresh produce wherever they live thanks to the Abbey Parks iGrow project. Abbey Parks lets UK residents “grow” their own produce from afar in hand-tended allotments in East Heckington, Lincolnshire.

Abbey Parks’ iGrow lets users select from a range of 60 vegetables and herbs. Once the user selects what they want planted, Abbey Parks takes care of the rest. Photos of the veggies and herbs are uploaded to a members’ forum to let virtual gardeners track the progress of their greens.

Once the crops are ready to be harvested, Abbey Parks will deliver them to your door free of charge. Urbanites often dream of starting their own garden, but space limitations and a busy lifestyle (among other factors) often derail even the best laid plans, which makes virtual gardens such as this all the more appealing.
