Rap-Integrated Shoe Ads
The A$AP Rocky Rap Puts a Nice to Spin to This Adidas Video

By: Ian Andrew Panganiban (Star) Apr 29, 13

Celebrity endorsements aren’t new to advertising, but advertisers are now integrating the personas of celebrities into their commercials. This can be seen with Beyoncé’s H&M commercial and now, this A$AP Rocky rap commercial for Adidas.

The video begins with A$AP Rocky talking, but you soon realize he’s actually doing a rap about the NBA players inside a giant shoe. The story of the commercial was based upon the classic fairy tale about the woman who lived in a shoe. The rap video commercial showcases NBA talents such as Jrue Holiday, John Wall and Rookie of The Year Damian Lillard.

The question is, is this a commercial portrayed as a music video or a music video portrayed as a commercial? The lines are slowly being blurred and soon enough, people won’t be able to tell the difference.
