The Simpsons, South Park, Family Guy. No matter how offbeat or just plain vulgar, society loves its cartoons. Perhaps this is the reason for the recent outcry after Microsoft’s announcement that it will be pulling its sponsorship from the Family Guy special, “Family Guy Presents: Seth & Alex’s Almost Live Comedy Show.”

At any rate, while we love our cartoons, we don’t mind ‘retooning’ them—that is, manipulating and re-creating them into something different. The Family Guy special is one example; check out these other examples of cartoon retooning!
