Robert Hoffman, Co-Star of ‘Aliens in the Attic' with Ashley Tisdale (INTERVIEW)

— August 12, 2009 — Business
Robert Hoffman has quite the year ahead of him with the release of four upcoming movies: ‘Aliens in the Attic’ (starring Ashley Tisdale), ‘Say Hello to Stan Talmadge,’ ‘We Got the Beat,’ and ‘Burning Palms.’

Robert Hoffman is best known for his roles as Justin in ‘She’s the Man’ and as Chase in ‘Step Up 2: the Streets.’ The dancer and comedic actor can also be seen in parody videos at PunchRobert.

Trend Hunter was lucky enough to do an interview with Robert Hoffman. Check it out his answers below.

10 Questions with Robert Hoffman

1. How did you get involved in acting and what motivates you to continue?

Umm, well I’ve always made funny videos for fun with my friends for my punchrobert.com website and I have danced my whole life so I guess those worlds kinda collided when I got hired to do the movie ‘You Got Served’ and I’ve been acting ever since! I guess it’s just what I was born to do, hah. I kinda feel like my motivation at this point is to have fun and to kinda try and teach the world not to take itself so seriously!

2. How significant are the topics of cool hunting and trend spotting in the world of entertainment?

Hah, it’s absolutely integral. Pop culture is something everyone knows about so it’s a great resource for parody.

3. How do you define cool?

Not giving a f*ck and doing what moves you.

4. How do you define a trend?

Something that lots of people catch on to at the same time, but it’s up to you to pick and choose the ones that are the coolest!

5. What is the coolest aspect of your current/upcoming project?

(Robert’s next release is ‘Aliens in the Attic’ alongside Ashley Tisdale.)

That I get to go absolutely crazy with the physical comedy. It’s why I chose the role. It’s like I found a project that unlocked my library of creative movement that I’ve been storing up since I was a kid.

6. How do you reset yourself to be creative? (E.g. do you have any rituals, do you set aside time for creativity?)

My mind is constantly creatively oriented but I get energy from being around people, so I actually get myself busy to get creative. If I’m at home alone setting aside time to be creative, I wilt. You can catch me at busy, loud nightclubs sitting alone in a corner writing creative notes into my phone (haha). Or, what I prefer most is to be around a bunch of friends brainstorming.

7. Professionally, what do you want to be doing in 10 years?

Directing and performing. Being perpetually creative. Laughing a lot.

8. If you weren’t in entertainment, what would your dream profession be?

To be the president so I could know if we’ve really made contact with aliens or not. And so I could have access to masses and teach this world not to take itself so seriously.

9. What are your most important hobbies?

Well making my funny videos for punchrobert.com is the first, after that would be basketball, volleyball, and Halo3 on xbox360. I know, geek.

10. If you could work with anyone in the world, who would it be and what would you do?

Right now, I really want to make ‘Yes Dance: The movie.’ ‘8 Mile’ meets ‘Zoolander’ meets ‘Tenacious D: Pick of Destiny.’ Me, Michael McDonald, Sacha Baron Cohen, Corey Holcomb, Will Ferrell, Nick Swardson, Mikey Day, Clifford McGee, Johnny Brennan, Johnny Depp, Dave Chappelle, my dad, and Sarah Silverman would all sit around for 2 months and write it and then make it and life couldn’t be sweeter!
