Moroccan Market Bar Designs

L'Epicerie's Grocery Bar Layout Lets Patrons Pick Cocktail Ingredients

This grocery store-inspired bar layout allows pub patrons to select their ingredients before mixologists take over. At L'Epicerie bartenders stock the supermarket-like shelves with fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices while seasoned bar-goers pick and choose which ones they want to go in their cocktails.

The unusual bar layout is the result of a competition held by French whisky company Ballantine's called The Bar Project that asked its customers what their dream bar would be. Designed by winner Abderrahim El Afsar, L'Epicerie has a Moroccan market theme. Customers can browse the bar's shelves for ingredients that will form the base of their cocktail and collect them in baskets. Expert mixologists will then pick the best Ballantine's whisky to go with the selected material and make the drink.
