Using data from OpenSecrets.org, the Greenhouse plugin offers political transparency about where members of Congress get their money.
Created by 16 year old Nicholas Rubin, Greenhouse is an extension you can download for your Chrome, Firefox, or Safari browser. Once downloaded, Greenhouse highlights the names of Congress members that show up on any website that you visit. All you have to do is place your mouse’s cursor on the name and instantly a list pops up that shows you who their biggest financial contributors are and how much they donated, what percentage of the elected official’s donations were $200 or less, and what campaign finance measures they supported.
Nicholas Rubin’s Greenhouse browser extension is an important tool for political transparency that can help to shine a light on the pervasive nature money can play in politics.
