An inverted art project consists of paintings that can only be properly viewed through your smartphone. Intended as a commentary on the addiction people have to their phones, Mondrian Inverted: The Viewer is Not Present draws inspiration from Piet Mondrian's work. Created by J. Robert Feld, the series features geometric shapes and color blocking.
The artist notes the ubiquitous nature of phones and cameras at museums, exhibitions and other art-displaying venues. Although mobile devices are generally credited with disconnecting man from his surroundings, this inverted art project uses smartphones to connect people with the paintings. While the abstract compositions remain the same, when viewed through a mobile device the colors change (red becomes turquoise, for example).
