'Natural Findings' is a large-format photo series that aim to capture the essence of learning, observations and wonder. The photos represent the processes of observation, discovery and development of knowledge.
The photos, which are entirely black and white, show people interacting with different small creatures such as insects, small birds, reptiles and fish. There is a photo of a fish swimming around in a makeshift aquarium, a snake curled up on a sheet of newspaper, and a couple of large spiders in a jar.
The photos examine the intersection between people's fascination with science and their childlike enthusiasm and sense of wonder for nature's creations.
“When my children find a frog, put it in a mayonnaise bottle and stare, I was reminded that I am still in awe of our natural environment, and in love with the limitless scrutiny that is possible though a photograph," St. Onge says about the inspiration behind the photo series.
