The fashion brand Opening Ceremony’s newest collection is definitely surreal couture. The clothing line was inspired by surreal Belgian artist René Magritte who loved to juxtapose everyday objects in a bizarre context. Like Magritte’s paintings, this collection will challenge your perception. The designs are odd and eye-catching, featuring eyes floating on a cloudy sky, ambiguous black umbrellas and beach imagery. Heads were covered with fabric and black umbrellas, which captured Magritte’s level of mystery and unknowing.
The brand also collaborated with Vans, Birkenstock and Manolo Blahnik to create some artist-inspired limited edition footwear.
This is the ideal collection for the budding artist who doesn’t want to conform to the typical rules of fashion. These clothes will definitely get you noticed and show off your love of artists and the surrealism.
