There's no equivalent to the connective powers that mobile phones give to communities, and BuffaloGrid is working to bring solar-powered phone chargers to people in developing countries.
Managing Director Daniel Becerra explains, "the mobile phone is the first and only device to reach the most remote rural and low-income regions of the world." Founder Phil Schluter came up with the idea for BuffaloGrid after he saw the benefits mobile phones were bringing to the local communities and the inherited trouble the people were having charging their devices.
BuffaloGrid brings electricity to off-the-grid rural users, jumping the need to be wired to the grid. They believe that a decentralized energy source is the key to bringing power to those with limited access.
