With the Invisible Cities app, the user is able to navigate a virtual version of someplace like Manhattan with a very different experience to walking or driving the urban environment. You won't see skyscrapers and streets as the physical features of the setting, per se; the cityscape is rather representative of online activity.
Pulling information from Instagram and Twitter, Schema's program registers check-ins and geotagged photos and places them on this 3D map as individual nodes. Aggregating in real-time, the geocoded data builds up and up, making the most social media active locations appear larger than their surroundings.
