The Tome Fall 2014 Fashions Channel Strength and Softness at Once

The debut of the Tome Fall 2014 collection at New York Fashion Week was a big moment for Australian designers Ryan Lobo and Ramon Martin, since this was the brand’s first ever runway show.
One of Tome’s inspirations for the collection was Shirin Neshat, an Iranian artist living in NYC. Her work focuses primarily on addressing the political and psychological issues for women in modern Middle Eastern countries. Since this is a lot of subject matter to deal with, Tome channeled Neshat’s presence — “strong and soft at once.”
This theme is carried beautifully throughout the sophisticated collection of dresses and separates. While the lines of the gameness remain very crisp, the materials also have a fluidity to them. Most of the looks are grounded in neutrals and dark tones, but occasionally these are punctuated by rosy pinks and vibrant reds. Satin debutante gloves make appearances several times, making it the must-have accessory from the Tome Fall 2014 line.
