This piece of public architecture called the Interactive Transformable Plaza by Michael Jantzen is designed to be manipulated by those who visit it. At its most basic, the plaza takes the shape of a long, flat, rectangular platform that looked to be made up of a number of planks. The conceptual design also includes boat winches at each end, which makes it so that the public can crank them and manipulate the space, which causes some of the platforms to rise and form peaks.
The hinged pieces can be raised into large mountain-like structures, or hilly forms. To ensure safety, the concept proposes the use of safety sensors to detect anyone underneath the moving platforms.
