Fish experts and enthusiasts will appreciate these extremely rare 'Polka Dot Rays' -- or mutated stingrays. These fish are very rare, expensive, and only bred in captivity.
What makes these fish most interesting and completely out of the ordinary is that they cannot feed themselves. A mutation on the front of their heads is shaped as a U-shaped bump (instead of a round disc that is on 'regular' sting rays). This mutation prevents the fish from feeding itself. Owners and breeders, subsequently, have to feed the fish.
Normally, stingrays would hunt and feed on shellfish with their mouths, but these mutated fish have a groove in the front which prevent them from hunting this same way. The mutated stingray have to be hand fed and would not survive in the ocean. each of these Polka Dot Rays are roughly $100,000 a piece.
