Focusing on the dark, disturbing and rueful side of the human conditions, Chinese artists Sun Yuan and Peng Yu use a variety of human fat, rubbish or live animals to create their hyperrealistic art pieces.
Highlighting and challenging the various "socially conditioned prejudices" we hold in our consumer-driven society, Sun Yuan and Peng Yu's artworks involves fiber glass and silica gel to explore issues of perception and death. Currently exhibited at the Galerie Perrotin in Paris, France, one work called 'Teenager Teenager' features a collection of people dressed in fine suits and dresses sitting and laying on leather chairs with massive, obscure-shaped rocks as heads.
Another piece, titled 'If I Die' shows an elderly woman with her eyes closed guided by a flock of colorful parrots and a horde of manta rays.
