Parkcycle Swarm Uses Bikes to Bring Greenery to Baku
Michael Hines — September 10, 2013 — Life-Stages
The city of Baku, Azerbaijan, is getting some mobile green spaces thanks to Parkcycle Swarm. Some people may remember Parkcycle when it debuted back in San Francisco in 2007. The idea was to put a park on wheels and bring it to areas lacking greenery. That idea is alive and well in Baku, with four bicycles featuring portable green spaces currently making their way around the city.
Parkcycle Swarm is part of a public arts festival currently taking place in the city. The four mobile parks are meant to raise awareness for a variety of issues, including cycling, public parks and community involvement. Those who come across the mobile parks are encouraged to take a load off and grab some sun. No word on whether the parks will take you around the city for free.
