This colorful Houston art installation has Texas talking. Sculpted by Patrick Renner and commissioned by Art League Houston, the Tunnel Funnel is an enormous wooden structure located across from the Montrose Boulevard esplanade. The 180 foot temporary civic piece is made from steel and reclaimed wood and is reminiscent of a similar public art piece built in 2005, also in Houston.
Like an extra long funnel, one end has a cornucopia-like opening at one end, but tapers into a slight point at the other. The space in between resembles a long tube or tunnel, hence its name. It also appears to light up at night, creating a stunning multicolored display. This piece of Houston artwork is intended to reflect the creative people and businesses in the area.
