Williams Talks Underwater Music Speakers
As a childhood swimmer, Justin Williams immediately drawn towards these underwater music speakers. Fitting directly over the swimmer's cheekbones, these innovative gadgets transmit music via vibrations, allowing swimmers to jam out while swimming laps.
When he's not developing webpages for Trend Hunter, Justin loves to play soccer, drink with his buddies, and pine for his home in Grenada and its easygoing Caribbean lifestyle.
1.What’s your favorite trend at the moment?
My favorite trend right now is ‘Underwater Facial Music Speakers.’ It’s a really cool idea. They’re speakers that don’t go over your ears; they go over your cheekbones. The best thing about it is that when you’re above water they’re not playing music, but as soon as you go underneath the water, the music starts playing. So, the speakers kind of detect the vibrations in the water. This is really cool to me, because when I was younger, I used to swim a lot. I was a long distance swimmer, so I used to train about 40 laps at a time. For me to have music playing while I was swimming would have made it a lot more interesting, and a lot more fun while swimming 40 laps. Music definitely plays a big role in sports. It’s a major form of motivation for people, myself included.
2.What do you think is the most important thing you’ve learned so far at Trend Hunter?
This is my first WebDev position. I started off kind of slow, but now I’m picking up speed, and speed is definitely important, especially in this environment. We want to get things done and out there really quickly, we want to have updates right away, so if we can get everything done quickly, that’s the key.
3.Describe a typical day at Trend Hunter.
I come in, say hello to everyone. I sit down at my desk, and Jeremy’s probably already in. We start talking about what we did yesterday, and what we’ll be working on today, and then we pretty much get straight to work. Right now I’m working on the Log In page. Everything’s going to have a new look.
4.What’s been your favorite accomplishment in your life so far?
I think my favorite accomplishment has been playing outdoor soccer, or football. I scored from like, 24 yards out. It was pretty impressive. I couldn’t even believe I did it, I was just like, “Woahhhh!” It’s a goal! I didn’t score a whole lot, so it was a big deal.
5.How would you describe the office environment at Trend Hunter?
The office environment is awesome. It’s totally laidback. Everybody’s cool, everybody’s pretty happy. We’re just working on our stuff, and I think everybody really enjoys their work. I sit right next to Jeremy, which is really cool. He makes everybody feel really vibrant, and everybody wants to get their work done. It’s great to come to the office where you’re working with people who aren’t just coworkers, but where everybody’s really friendly, and you feel like you make good connections with people.
