From DIY battery manufacturing kits to ethical undergarment production, these Kickstarter-funded social enterprises show the connections between viral campaigns that attempt to gain crowdfunding and purpose-driven initiatives as they are working together for marketing purposes.
While not all of these examples are necessarily funded by -- or shall we say through -- Kickstarter itself, which itself spouts to be the "world's largest funding platform for creative projects," the idea is still there. Kickstarter, a U.S.-based company, was founded in 2009 but the replicas of the website continue to come on the scene, some with specific thematic leanings, for example social purpose. Nonetheless, these Kickstarter-funded social enterprises call on the crowd to test whether or not an idea will stick.
