Ad firm Deutsch in Los Angeles claims to have created $1 radio ads. These claims can not be confirmed 100% but if this is true, producing and buying radio ads for $1 is absolutely mind boggling. The radio ads have been created for Taco Bell in Los Angeles to promote their $1 menue. By creating the ads for $1 the agency has created something that is not only news worthy but a clever plan for themselves and the brand.
Taco Bell’s Dollar Cravings Menu is a low-budget option, so Deutsch figured it needs low-budget advertising. The agency didn’t hire a voiceover actor, they chose to use a low-quality text-to-speech voice, similar to a bad robot voice to read the scripts for the radio spot. The radio spot is hilarious and actually quite effective, the question is, did they get the air time for a dollar, or is this just a publicity stunt.
