1.6 SM Of Life by Studio NL Opens Up for Nap Time
Meghan Young — April 15, 2013 — Art & Design
Europeans may be lauded for their relaxed approach to work environments and benefits, but the 1.6 SM Of Life takes it to another level entirely. It is a hybrid between a desk and a bed. By day, the piece of furniture looks like an unassuming white workstation. By mid-day, it opens up to reveal a padded surface beneath the desk area that serves as a comfy spot for those who tend to hit the wall around that time.
Designed by Athanasia Leivaditou of Studio NL, the 1.6 SM Of Life desk was inspired by her "experiences while studying and working in New York." Considering that Americans have much more strict views when it comes to work, it is no surprise she came up with this concept as compensation.
