Panoramic photography has been around since before the birth of digital photography, but most people would agree that they've never seen anything quite like this 320 gigapixel shot of London, England.
Cobbled together of the course of several months, Jeffry Martin, Tom Mills, and Holger Schulze set up over $100,000 worth of camera equipment on a London rooftop. The shot was achieved by setting up four Canon SLR cameras on the rooftop equipped with robotic panoramic mounts. The cameras were also outfitted with telephoto lenses, and the photographers had to spend three days in a row on the rooftop just to put the multiple gigapixel shot together. After a painstaking post-production process that involved putting each image together manually over the course of several months, the picture is now out there for the public to enjoy.
Internet users can rotate, pan and zoom the 360 degree image to their heart's content. It's a pretty intoxicating effect.
