The 'Are We Still Going On?' art installation is made up of hundreds of second-hand shirts--children's shirts, to be exact. At first they appear to be suspended in various formations from faux valleys to more standard straight lines. In reality, they take on the shape of a ship's hull for a visually striking effect. This is especially the case because they have been carefully arranged by way of color to create an ombre-like aesthetic, which loosely comments on gender.
Put together by Kaarina Kaikkonen, an environmental artist hailing from Finland, the 'Are We Still Going On?' art installation was conceived at Collezione Maramotti, a private collection of contemporary art in Reggio Emilia, Italy. The shirts were supplied by clothing company Max Mara.
