The Lumiru Fan is not a typical fan. Unlike its predecessors both ancient and contemporary, this air cooler focuses on a more artistic existence that nevertheless does not interfere with its true purpose. Inspired by the winters of Nordic countries, the Lumiru Fan has a soft billowing component that is as mesmerizing as it is pretty. When turned off, the fabric hiding the inner workings of the fan is neatly crumbled away. When turned on, it inflates beautifully, almost like a hot air balloon readying for takeoff.
Designed by Arttu-Matti Immonen, the Lumiru Fan is a simple concept using rather inexpensive materials. Yet the impact of its design is strong. Immonen writes, "Lumiru works in essence the same way as a ceiling fan by blowing air to the roof causing a calm wind throughout the space.”
