This animated timeline tracks the Evolution of the F1 Car. This beautifully minimalist video was created by London-based aerodynamic animateer and illustrator Rufus Blacklock. With over 60 years of history, the Formula One is the highest class of single-seater auto racing with fans from across the world -- luckily one of them was Blacklock.
The project started when, after searching around, Blacklock could not find any animated videos that tracked the history of the sport. So, last year Blacklock started to track F1 data needed and began working away at this film. The animation uses abstract outlines to cleverly display the transformation of the F1 car from 1950s bullet-shapes to safer designs of today. Along with the Evolution of the F1 Car video, the illustrator will also release infographs of the data that any fan autoknow.
