Chris Albrecht graduated from the Culinary Institute of America. He began working at New York’s Gramercy Tavern, which was founded by Colicchio and Meyer. Albrecht then moved to Las Vegas to become the head chef at Craftsteak. After several years of experience, he moved back to New York to gain a senior position at Craftsteak.
In his presentation, Chris Albrecht delves into his culinary experience. Within his career, he has dealt with the physical properties of hospitality, such as gastronomy and kitchen training. However, he has moved on to confront the psychological experience of hospitality and cuisine. He discusses table vision, and the correlation between the pleasure of food and the environment. In his speech Albrecht says, “Hospitality comes from within. Within yourself and the group you work with. If you aren’t happy or the group you work with isn’t happy, you can’t impart happiness to your guests.”
