Glastonbury Goes Green(er)
References: glastonburyfestivals & news.bbc
Campers at this years Glastonbury Festival will be forced to use pegs made out of potatoes. It comes after cows were injured by metal pegs that were left behind on the farm in previous years. The event organiser, Michael Eavis, has a skip full of metal tent pegs from last year alone. The potato pegs are a stout biodegradable version made from potato starch.
The potato tent pegs are part of the 2008 "leave no trace" campaign, a series of plans to reduce the environmental impact of the festival which will be unveiled in March.
