The Lumineyes Procedure Permanently Turns Brown Eyes Blue
Michael Hines — November 3, 2011 — Lifestyle
Permanently changing the color of your eyes from brown to blue may be possible thanks to the Lumineyes procedure. Lumineyes is a special operation developed by Dr. Gregg Homer of California that uses a high-powered laser to zap away the brown pigment, known as melanin, from the top layer of the iris.
Once the layer of melanin has been zapped away, the eye slowly starts to go from brown to blue. According to Dr. Homer, the process takes about a few weeks and is irreversible. The doctor is currently seeking nearly a million dollars to run clinical trials on the Lumineyes procedure. If the procedure becomes approved, Dr. Homer says that it could be available in the U.S. in as little as three years and cost about $4,700.
