Without any impetus from wary customers or environmental conditions, it's surprising to see social business initiatives like HoneyDrop's 'Save the Bees' campaign surface in local ad spaces.
As the company's name implies, HoneyDrop produces natural teas and other cold beverages which are designed with sustainability in mind. Yet worldwide, honey bees have begun fleeing, scattering their colonies or simply dropping dead -- researchers have yet to pinpoint the cause. In the hopes of rebuilding the faltering bumble bee population, the soft drink manufacturer has launched their new Save the Bees campaign, which forwards donations to urban beekeeping groups with each purchase of a HoneyDrop bottle. Moreover, the company has called upon the help of Bees Without Borders, a conservationist non-profit, in order to build new beehives capable of housing 40,000-60,000 critters and actively counter-acting the dreaded CCD (Colony Collapse Disorder)!
