My shelf unfortunately doesn't accommodate books that are on the taller side, so I definitely wish I found out about Luke Hart's Rubber Shelves before I went to IKEA.
No, the strange form that the Rubber Shelves take in the first picture doesn't mean that it's an abstract piece designed solely to impress the artistic crowd. The reason for the way it looks, is because the shelf itself is actually flexible; therefore the varying height and weight of each literary piece causes it to adjust accordingly. The whole idea behind the project is to provide a space for books of all shapes and sizes. Take out all the books, and the Rubber Shelves returns to a more conventional form.
