A Canadian company, Knowaste has come up with an Eco-friendly diaper disposal option to take care of the millions of tonnes of soiled diapers that end up in a landfill (1.1 billion pounds in UK, according to the Internet). It has opened a re-cycling plant in Sandwell, United Kingdom, to recycle diapers, feminine hygiene products and adult incontinence products into roof-tiles and other construction materials. This is the first of five plants which they are planning for UK.
In the initial phase they will source the waste from hospitals, nursing homes and childcare centres, but they will be considering individual homes in the future.
This sure will be a small sigh of relief for the Eco-friendly parents, who grimace when they see disposable diapers going into the recycle bin.
Implications - An amazing way to reduce space used in land-fills and converting one man's (baby's) garbage into another man's home.
