For their first overseas production facility, the Lucasfilm Singapore HQ takes its architecture design straight from the pages of the Jawa building code book.
Who doesn't love Jawas? Well, maybe Luke Skywalker. But besides him and his android sidekicks, no one is safe from the infectious charm of those small, business-savvy aliens. That includes architectural firm Aedas, which was commissioned to design and subcontract the building. Complete with state-of-the-art production facilities, an animation studio and a 100-seat movie theater, the Lucasfilm Singapore HQ has everything an employee (or a Star Wars fan) might want. And all this comes in an 8-story replica of a Jawa sand crawler.
After announcing his intentions to release yet another updated version of the classic Star Wars films (much to the chagrin of fans everywhere), it's uplifting to see George Lucas and co. are capable of recognizing a good idea when they see one.
