People are now realizing the importance of community in the workspace, which is what the FS2 office design promotes. Modeled like a mini city, this design for tech startup The Flagship avoids alienation between co-workers through a unique space created just for interaction.
Designed by Charleston-based Fabric Urban Design Office in collaboration with design firm Brown Architecture, the FS2 office design is centered around two 17-foot curvilinear walls. These walls act like streets that lead to the lobby that acts like some sort of piazza. This piazza maximizes casual conversations, enabling a workplace that encourages healthy relationships amongst colleagues.
Interestingly, although the FS2 office design is quite unique, "the actual execution involved little more than paint out of a can," as Fast Co Design puts it. This shows how easy change can be.
