Mattia Trotta is an Italian artist whose specialty is steel-wire sculptures. While I am impressed by nearly every artist who works with wires, I am blown away by Trotta's work thanks to its presentation and incredible amount of detail.
Trotta creates his impressive pieces of art by first wrapping steel wire around a metal frame. After the frame has been encased by wire, the wire is treated to prevent corrosion and to bring out its natural color. The resulting sculptures have a unique look that is both classical and modern at the same time. My favorite piece from Mattia Trotta is easily the elephant and the red balloon as I never imagined such a happy and wondrous work of art could be made out of cold steel wires.
