Nike Schroeder is an artist from Berlin who likes to use thread in her artworks. Her website states that she likes to trasport "images out of her direct surrounding into textile art." Many of her portraits deal with human expression and explore thoughts and memories through needles and yarn.
Nike Schroeder's unique artworks are extremely detailed and I can't even imagine how long each one took. Many of the pieces have loose threads dangling from different parts of the body, frequently the mouth and eyes. Most of the time this thread is very bright, so it stands out and is extremely noticeable. Nike Schroeder's website states that often times this is done on purpose, but other times it is completely random. The string can be seen as a representation of bodily fluids such as blood.
