Michael Chima was a precocious literary prodigy who has been winning prizes for his writings since age 13. He produced and directed his first play “The Prodigal” in 1980 at the National Museum Education Unit when he was only 17. He was already a professional scriptwriter for the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) at 18. His illustrations have been exhibited in Japan since 1983 and published by the Johns Hopkins University’s Population Communication Services (JHU/PCS) in 1984. He became the Features Editor of Kiddies World Magazine in 1987, and won another first prize for his poem “Song of Patriotism” the same year. He became a UNICEF Consultant in I988 and launched his first anthology “Children of Heaven” that was highly commended in THE GUARDIAN, THE PUNCH, Radio Nigeria and. His poem “The Tears of Mokunwa” with his photograph and Phil Collins’ “Another day in Paradise” were published in the Weekend Concord edited by Mike Awoyinfa in 1989. Chima was interviewed on the BBC with the broadcast of his song “She Comes On Sundays” in 2003. Chima is a member of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), Chautauqua Literary and Scientific Circle (CLSC) since 1987. He has produced musical works and directed stage plays since 1980 to date. Chima is currently on location on Bonny Island, writing online/offline and working on producing a documentary film, a documentary video and a short movie entitled “Monkey Village”.
He is the author of Scarlet Tears of London (2006), co-author of Naked Beauty (2006), editor of The Language of True Love and the Executive Director of Jton magazine. He is the publisher and editor of the Nigerian Times International, which is the largest Nigerian media network online.
