In this using technology keynote, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair establishes how social media can be used to change systems of government. As a revolutionary phenomenon, Blair believes that technology should now be at the starting point of change.
Emerging countries are offered enormous amounts of opportunities because of their ability to use technology to reform basic systems. These developing countries should not look to countries in the Western world for guidance, because they themselves are looking to make fundamental changes with social media and technology.
Social media is offering the possibility to create better systems of delivery in basic services such as health care and education. Blair believes there is a need to think about these technologies in a new light, and people need to begin to think of Facebook and Twitter as a means to driving these changes.
