In Rhee's speech, she stresses the importance of focusing on the task at hand as opposed to things like personal popularity or promotions. Rhee says that it's easy to make mistakes when one is focused on the wrong issue. She uses closing schools as an example of this because the decision enraged a community, but ultimately improved school conditions for a large number of people.
While Rhee stays focuses on the topic of education, she also applies her advice to all industries.
