CEO and best-selling author Martin Lindstrom examines the online social media phenomenon, stressing his belief that that it is severely over-hyped. Lindstrom shares that we only spend less than 4% of our entire time online, conducting the remainder of out lives in person.
When one meets an individual, they have a stronger sense of connection and a better understanding of who that person is, gaining more then they would given someone's stats on a social media site. The famed author gives the example of hiring someone by stating that an in-person meeting speaks louder than a virtual Skype interview.
Despite of his beliefs, Martin Lindstrom believes that the future of social media will take place offline, expressing how word of mouth holds more power than any form of virtual communication.
