In an effort to celebrate National Day with a baby boom, couples in the Russian town of Ulyanovsk are being encouraged to take a day off from work to have sex. Russian president, Vladimir Putin hopes the planned conception results on a baby boom next June 12th, offering money and prizes for those who give birth on the holiday. The long-term goal is to boost the country’s birth rate which has been on a steady decline since the collapse of the Soviet Union.
