Using mug shots of entertainment figures released by law enforcement, German-raised LA artist Schmeidler gives them star treatment; restored to glamour through a combination of imaging technology and silk screening. She's got some interesting things to say about celebrity shadenfraude. “We, as a culture - like many generations before us - seem to need idols. Celebrities seem to fill this human need or desire. The celebrity mug shot transfixes us because we see our idols vulnerable – the mug shot seems to humanise our idols,” Schmeidler said.

Interesting! I don't imagine they're too concerned about trouble though - the models certainly look oblivious to trouble. It's almost as if they're resigned to global warming, but hey, they still manage to look cool in their motorboats and with their handbags. I think it's more the case of Diesel hooking on to every 'cutting edge' theme or advertising issue they can. Or maybe I'm just cynical after their gang rape campaign... At least they've got some links on the website, though a few aren't working for me. It's certainly an eye-catching campaign.

The sad thing about this is that Dolce & Gabbana don't even have to stoop to such shock-tactics. They already have a reputation; here they're stooping low and pandering to the taboo-cool of raunch culture. Lame indeed.

These pictures are photoshopped to excentuate the models emaciation; I've seen the originals in comparison online (sorry no link, but they're out there). Anyway, worthy story and enough is enough. Healthy and happy has always been sexier than fashionably thin, and always will be, I hope.

Nice to see iLove featured - I've written for them on numerous occasions. They started so well, and so ambitiously. It's a novel idea, and could've worked so well. I don't know why they didn't. What I do know is that they dropped all freelancers and staff writers some six months ago, saying that they couldn't afford to keep them on, and that they are resorting to news-filter stories from overseas. Poor aussie magazines. I hope iLove recover and become what they could be, what they dreamed. All the best to them, I had fun.
