Both CBS and FOX rejected Evolve ads by Trojan, despite the fact that the ads try to move past old sterotypes, such as "it's not cool to be prepared for safe sex" and "leave that here birth control to… |
I think the outrage with this ad is that saying "men are pigs" (literally or figuratively) is ultimately derogatory towards men. Fox and CBS work on a strict C.Y.A. policy. Not showing these ads will guaranty they wont be sued. Don't even get me started on women not using birth control and asking men to use a condom (even though there are 10+ forms of birth control for women and only 3 for men - and thats including vasectomy and abstinence) - Allen Butler

Next summer's Olympic games just won't stop stirring up controversy. Beijing is seeking out female representatives for next years games, but let the public know that unless you're tall and thin, you needn't… |
These stories are always one sided... Women (and men) often get the wrong ideal if a story reads "skinny is hip, healthy, and beautiful!" Then they do all they can to be as skinny as possible. They may also read a story that reads "curvy is the new skinny! Its healthy to have some meat on your bones!" and they look at it as a blank check for gluttony.
Part of the problem is that while we use the word obese to describe the more sizable people out there we all to often choose to use the word "skinny" to describe the skeletally thin people out there. We need to begin to call it like we see it: malnourished.
Balance is the key here. If everyone can just find a place between malnourished and obese then all will be alright. Obesity and malnourished is ugly...Healthy is beautiful. - Allen Butler

Anyone familiar with my posts knows I'm a huge fan of verbal hybridization and crafty new terms that describe objects, situations or people in more applicable ways than existing words in the English language.… |
Ha Ha. You are quite right about these words being better than your examples. However you for got male-aise. - Allen Butler

Was Walt Disney racist? Disney is supposed to promote positive learning and lessons for kids, right? Well, they haven't always. Not that it was intentional, because times have changed, but upon examination… |
While it is rumored that Walt Disney was horribly anti-semitic. You have to realize that most of these stories were not written by the Walt Disney corp but screen plays adapted to animation.
While people want to teach tolerance...They tend to teach the self loathing, skewed view that any difference or stereotype of any culture is noticed were not to mention it because it makes you a bad person. All this hypersensitivity is breeding a generation people who are afraid to have an individual thought for fear it will upset a certain group of people.
As for Disney being a racist? You might as well accuse him of animal cruelty for killing dragons in the movies.
Be tolerant and embrace other cultures, but don't be afraid to voice truths. - Allen Butler

Faking luxury isn't just a social crime committed by ordinary folks -- celebrities are projected false images too to create the illusion of a raised status. 50 Cent was recently busted on FerrariChat for… |
I agree with Hjortur. In essence its smarter to rent luxury rather than buy it. I'm sure 50 cent would rather buy a house for his mom than 5 or 6 exotic cars he wont drive. There are better things to waste money on. - Allen Butler

Could a new video game save music? In the competitive world of gaming, it's hard to make a product stand out, but it seems EA and MTV were successfully able to captivate an audience with the launch of… |

because curing disease and regenerating organs would be such a horrible, horrible thing. I hope all you brain washed religious sheep remember what you protested against when you go visit your poor ailing grand mother and she can't recall who you are because of Alzheimer's or can't get up to greet you because she is bed ridden. - Allen Butler

A bunch of women got together at Cambridge and decided to write a book challenging the traditional idea of adult art and what society thinks is sexy. "Have another piece of cake. I don't like you looking… |
Wow...unbelievable. Apparently anyone can get garbage published. I can just imagine the pitch meeting for this book "Lets show men doing the opposite of the social stereotypes that we, as women, have opposed on them though our now female controlled advertising/media industry and stroke all the egos of our core audience by
insinuating that men really don't enjoy beautiful, thin women." - Allen Butler

These phrases are utterly idiotic. To be clear; I'm not offended because they may to some men insinuate a homosexual relationship but more because some self important blow-hard decided that women are so important to men that a vacation that is devoid of female influence is no longer a vacation (Male-cation) and relationship with another guy is not an actual relationship because its not with a woman (male-lationship).
Even my gay friends are offended by these terms...
As men, we are constantly having to battle stereotypes that are perpetuated by the media. Yes, thats right we don't all enjoy sports and black furniture in our apartments. And contrary to the popular misconceptions we are all not helpless in the kitchen and the grand majority of us can do our own laundry. The advertising industry presents the image of the north American male as an animal that would surely parish in a sea of fast food wrappers and pizza boxes in their horribly decorated bachelor pad (aka man-shed) if a woman did not domesticate them...go ahead watch an hour of Television and tell me that I'm wrong. To whom ever came up with these terms: you make me sick. - Allen Butler

A set of policies for the Beijing Olympic Game was put into place, banning people from taking the Bible into the Olympic Village during next summer's games. If this doesn't stir up major debate, I'm not… |
As hosts of an international event they are asking that visitors respect their customs, traditions and laws when in their country. Western religion, especially all forms of Christianity, have a nasty habit of forcing their beliefs on the indigenous people of the countries they visit. As the Chinese government isn't completely restricting the (insert your holy book of choice here) into their country it just looks like they don't want people doing any "missionary" work while they are there. As an atheist I'm inclined to agree with their point of view. If I were the Chinese government I wouldn't want anything like the inquisition, the crusades, the Salem witch trials or any or the other countless atrocities the weak willed and weak minded Christians have committed in the name of religion or 'god' happing in my country either - Allen Butler

"Let's love Britney," said Pastor John Weece to his congregation at Southland Christian Church in Lexington, Kentucky. "If she were your next-door neighbor in the same situation without the money and success,… |

Not even sure where to start with this...Well first lets establish that "Subculture" does not equal "Fashion". There are things that happen when Euro-Fashion tries to cash in on a sub-culture...a mass spawning of posers. Not to mention this is a poor spin on the Japanese Loli-Goth concept, which by the way, is 110% more attractive than this pseudo-Manson family look the model is just barely pulling off. - Allen Butler

As Americans become more obese the need for larger toilets grows. With everything else going to Plus size, why not toilet seats. I would really love to find good in this because this is an invention that there is an apparent need for... Believe it or not thousands of men are willing to part with $6,500 to get the Rolls Royse of love dolls from Real Dolls which had $2 million in sales last year. Some men have websites dedicated to their… |
I've actually seen a documentary about these "Real Dolls" and there owners. Surprisingly it’s not totally sexual. Yes there are men who want the release but those guys would not shell out the kind of money it would take to acquire one of these dolls. “Lonely loser. Pathological creep. Misogynist… Sicko” are how the men are described by salon.com, Misogynist would be wholly inaccurate as I’m sure their day doesn’t consist of beating women then going home and having crazy monkey sex with their doll. Lonely would be the best way to describe these men. They long for a female presence that wont judge, nag,
or try to change them. The dolls offer unwavering acceptance, unchanging looks, and a sort of companionship that real woman either can’t or wont offer. It may seem misogynistic but unfortunately its real women who create these “lonely, creepy guys”.
I’m not saying women should be like mindless slaves, I’m just saying that when a woman gets up in the morning she has a choice; a choice to either look frumpy or not, be kind and friendly or not, wear the granny panties or those lacy frilly things all of us guys like to see you in. If your Husband or boyfriend comes home or comes by how about offering a smile and a wink instead of a “to do” list. - Allen Butler
