@B: there are safer alternatives. E-pipes, cigars, cigs. Still have nicotine, but all the other bad stuff is removed. "Smoke" comes from water vapor. This cigar doesn't "smoke." I haven't tried either.

Initial pings on Google.com show packet losses in New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Australia, France, China and other locales. The outages ran across all of Google’s properties such as YouTube, Gmail, Google Analytics, Google Maps and Google Docs.

It's a vast gummit conspiracy: he isn't tweeting from space because they don't have "always on" internet. He's emailing ground control (yeah right) and they are tweeting for him.

Mike does is that he writes an email that gets sent to Mission Control whenever the shuttle has a connection, and then the folks there update his Twitter account for him.
