Born on the east coast, Rosa says that she is “a woman, wife, mother, and proud grandma (in that order), baby boomer, dedicated humor writer, and joke junkie. I love to make people laugh,” she adds. She enjoys watching classic movies, reading humor books, shopping on eBay, and spends a lot of time browsing local flea markets. Recently, she has been researching family genealogy. “I am Italian on my mother’s side; my maternal grandparents were born in San Paolo, Foggia, Italy. I attribute my sense of humor to my Italian heritage. In the 1920s, they overcame many hardships getting acclimated to life in America, including a language barrier and the Depression, but never lost their sense of humor. I could always get funny material at our weekly Sunday dinner table. My father’s ancestors were French/English, came to America from England in 1634, settled in Glastonbury, CT, and migrated to New York around 1830. I found out that some of them fought in the French-Indian, Revolutionary, and Civil Wars, as well as WWI and II. So, my parents have given me the best of both worlds.” Rosa always adored Erma Bombeck, especially the popular book “If Life is a bowl of Cherries, What am I Doing in the Pitts?” She has attended The Erma Bombeck Writer’s Workshop at the University of Dayton (Dayton, OH), where she was lucky enough to actually meet Bruce Cameron (Eight Simple Rules for Dating my Teenaged Daughter), Don Novello (Father Guido Sarducci), Nancy Cartright (voice of Bart Simpson), Gordon Kirkland (Never Stand Behind a Loaded Horse), and Tim Bete (In the Beginning…There Were No Diapers). “I would love to emulate Erma Bombeck’s success. She was the greatest American humorist of our generation, a terrific role model for women, and inspired many talented writers.” Rosa Capacola InterviewWhat is unique that's not in your bio?
