For years, Ben thought his career lay in construction, building extravagant castle for fancy kings and queens. Then Lego City came out, and he figure he might run for mayor. These were the early years of Ben's life, filled with joy but more often excruciating pain (have you ever stood on Lego barefoot?).
More recently however, Ben graduated from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland which changed his name a little to Ben Clifford B.A. (Hons.). He prefers to stick to Ben though.
Throughout college, and for a few years after, Ben wrote and performed in the sketch group No Pants Thursday . The group performed around Dublin and at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival to rave reviews. For a short period, Ben was also Oliver the Penguin in the comedy group A Betrayal of Penguins . A quick Google search brings up a flurry of information on both groups. Little less known than Ben's sketch fame is his work playing bass for At Elbow & Foot , their music being featured on the Irish indie movie The Gingerbread Men .
Presently, Ben has stopped referring to himself in the third person and I am living in Toronto. I moved there in late January 2013, to follow my career as an actor and writer. At some point, I'll bring my blog Jumpers for Goalposts from the ashes, like a phoenix and start drawing doodles again.
What is unique that's not in your bio?
I'm 5'8", have brown hair and blue eyes...that's pretty unique, right?
What's your favorite accomplishment?
Selling out an Edinburgh Fringe show, armed in nothing but my underwear and some flyers.
How do you define cool?
The Oxford English Dictionary defines cool as "of or at very low tempeture".
I define cool as people who quote the OED.
What is your secret to uncovering trends?
Stumble blindly into them and hope for the best.
What do you enjoy most about Trend Hunter?
How easy it is to navigate throughout the site, more specifically from trend to trend.
What is your favorite trend?
Not sure if you mean from your categories, or in general.
Your Categories: Humour*
In General: Customised** clothing (self monogrammed tops, added ears etc)
What are your tips for writing a juicy post?
Pulp. Get it? ...like in juice...aw, nevermind.
1) Make sure it's something you care about, people can read your passion if you type with it.
2) No matter if it's 200 or 20000 words, take your reader on a little journey.
3) Never use a list system
4) Break your own rules
How do you reset to be creative?
Finding stuff that makes me laugh usually gets my creative juices flowing. That and music.
Failing the above, a glass of red wine after work never hurts.
What inspires or excites you?
My friends, family and the mundane in life.
Think of a slice of pie on a windowsill. Make it more mundane, even more so, more mundane than a boot. Now imagine Beckett wrote a play about it. That's the level of mundane I'm talking about.
Predict something awesome for 2020?
My money is on that Y2K is going to come back in a big way, maybe with the rapture on one side, and the Mayans on the other. But it won't be an armageddon, it'll be a charmageddon and everyone will love it.
